- The church is not mentioned in the Book of Revelation after chapter 4.
- The church is repeatedly mentioned in the first 3 chapters, but once the period of the tribulation begins the church is no longer mentioned until chapter 18 where it is mentioned as the bride, and in chapter 19 as a bride already adorned.
John ascends into heaven in chapter 4, is a picture of the church ascending!
- There is no purpose for the church to go through the Tribulation!
The Tribulation is the time of Jacob's Trouble (Jer.30: 7) and its purpose is to judge unbelieving gentile nations and to discipline the disobedient nation of Israel, the church does not have a purpose or place in the tribulation.
- The Scriptures appear to teach that we will not go through God's wrath!
Rev 6:17 calls the Tribulation "Wrath" "For the great day of their wrath has come...
1 Thes. 5:9 — "For God did not appoint us to suffer wrath but to receive salvation through our Lord Jesus Christ. "
Luke 21 :36 — "Be always on the watch, and pray that you may be able to escape all that is about to happen, and that you may be able to stand before the Son of Man. "
Rev. 3:10 — "Since you have kept my command to endure patiently, I will also keep you from the hour of trial that is going to come upon the whole world to test those who live on the earth. "
- The Scriptures teach an immanent hope of His coming!
- We are to be eagerly waiting (Phil.3: 20); continually looking (Titus 2:13); and living blameless lives (1 Tim. 6:14) for we know not the day nor the hour!
There are distinct differences between the Rapture and the Second Coming texts!
| The Rapture • Meet Jesus in the air (1 Thes. 4:17) • Jesus comes for the saints (1 Thes. 4:17) • The dead are raised to the air the moment He comes (1 Thes. 4:16) • Mt of Olives remains unchanged • Our bodies are changed (1 Cor. 15:51) • We go to heaven w/Jesus (John 14:3) world remains un-judged • Deliverance is before a period of wrath (Luke 21:36 1 Thes. 5:9) • It can happen at any moment, like a thief (IThes. 5:2) • It appears only believers see Him when He comes (1 Thes. 4:17) | The Second Coming • Jesus comes to earth (Zech. 14:4) • Jesus comes with the saints (Zech. 14:5, IThes. 3:13) • The martyred (in Tribulation) are raised sometime after He is on the earth (Rev. 20:4) • A huge valley is formed (Zech. 14:5) • No change is mentioned (Rev. 20:4) • We stay on earth w/Jesus (Rev. 20:6) • The world is judged (Zech. 14:2-3; Rev 19:11-15) • Deliverance is after a period of wrath (Matt. 24: 29-31) • Certain signs must precede this event (Matt. 24:4-44) • Every eye will see Him when He comes (Rev. 1:7) | |

- Going through the Tribulation is consistent with other judgement accounts.
Lot from Sodom and Gomorrah (God delivered Lot out of Sodom. Genesis 19:16).
- Noah from the flood (God delivered Noah in the ark 2 Peter 2:5).
- Rahab in Jericho (God delivered Rahab from judgement. Joshua 2,6).
- The church must be removed before the "lawless one" can be revealed (2Thes. 2:6-8).
The work of the Spirit was to indwell the church, those who were believers! The Spirit through the church is the restrainer of sin (Gal. 6:3). The church must be removed before the lawless one can be revealed.
